Dear Club,
Badminton England are pleased to be able to offer our Young Leader Academy for the 2021-22 season.
The aim of this academy is to equip young leaders with the skills and knowledge to support improved provision in their clubs by sharing learning and becoming more actively involved in leading and coaching delivery. Young leaders are also encouraged to explore volunteering opportunities and to raise the profile of badminton by using the skills they have developed to engage their peers and influence others who may not be interested in the sport, and to increase membership within their clubs.
The age range for nominees is 13 – 16 years and clubs can nominate up to 2 young people who may already volunteer as a leader within their club.
Academy Details – October Half Term
This year the academy will again run virtually and will be offered over 4 x 1-hour webinars as per the details below.
- 2 hours on Tuesday 26th October (separated by a 15-minute break)
- 1 hour on Wednesday 27th October
- 1 hour Reflection Session on Thursday 25th November 6-7pm OR Saturday 27th November 10-11am. Successful applicants will be able to choose which of these dates is more convenient for them.
The academy is free for participants to attend and will focus on leadership, influencing and communication skills.
Please note participants will be expected to commit to all four hours of the academy. Specific times will be confirmed once we are aware of interest levels.
How to nominate:
You can nominate up to 2 young people within your club - please encourage them to complete and return the online nomination form. All nominations must be received by Friday 3rd September 2021.
NB: please pay particular attention to the first question ‘Why do you wish to attend the Young Leader Academy' as spaces are limited and if we are oversubscribed, this will form part of the selection process.
If the nomination form is not returned by Friday 3rd September 2021 from either the club or young leader, we shall assume that you currently don't have anyone you wish to nominate/is available to attend.
Confirmations of a place and further details will be sent shortly after the closing date
