The Junior League concluded recently with the final session at Holmes Chapel. In this session the results are accumulated from session 3 making a mini-league. The day was, as always, very special. All of the teams enjoyed the competition. This was the first year in which we had rebranded the event the East Cheshire Junior League on account of its expansion from the early days of predominantly Crewe clubs to a genuine East Cheshire collective. The county Board have now bought into the event and underwrite it financially. Here is a round up:

Division 1 saw 3 points separating the top three. Alsager alas found it all too much and propped up the table, pointless, but still having competed vigorously. MGBadders are a group from Cheadle Hulme managed by Mark Golds (who some of you will know, as a fine product of Cheshire). They triumphed narrowly from Altrincham A and Macclesfield A. The latter joined our senior league this year.

Division 2 was even tighter. The top three were separated by two points. Sunrise B from Warrington were a second team from the club in the division which was a bit too much for them. However, their more senior team Sunrise A did beat Altrincham B and MGBadders B to take the title by one point. The other two tying in second place separated only by a count back on games which had a difference of 1.

Division 3 saw one of our clubs - Canute field a very inexperienced side and they did finish bottom but with a wealth of experience to benefit from. Again the top three were separated by only 3 points. Our old friends Wizards A from Alderley Edge just pipped Crosses A and Altrincham C.

Division 4 was a mix of teams, some of whom only competed in one of the the two counting rounds. Of those with 6 matches to judge the outcome, Sunrise C had the better of Macclesfield B and Sunrise D

Division 5 similarly had teams who had an incomplete playing record. Altrincham D triumphed over Crosses B and C.

League and Interim County President David Sumner thanked all of the participants, their coaches and parents for making the event a really excellent display of Badminton. He went on the thank all of the 'backroom staff' who made the event possible (modestly avoiding the fact the he is the central driving force to the planning and execution of this admirable product of Crewe and District). In particular we were lucky to have County Chairman Karl Bergh to present the awards. Details of the results can be found in the Junior League section of the web site.
