There has been
an encouraging take up of coaching recently in the league generally. We are
delighted that we have been able to support this through coaching bursaries. In
recent years we have had a small number of coaches who are 'mature' (let us
say) and they are naturally winding down to a degree. Sadly this is reflected
in the number of junior clubs the league has been able to operate. This season
the Junior League became the East Cheshire Junior League in recognition of the
fact we had to widen the horizons. The league is now branded as a Cheshire
County venture, although Crewe take a very active part in the management of it.
Happily our recent influx of coaches is redressing the balance and Crewe league
coaches are actively supporting and developing the newly branded league.
However, we can do more and once again wish to invite any aspiring coach to
come forward and gain the qualifications, for which bursaries are available
from Crewe and District and also Cheshire County. You could qualify with a relatively
small personal financial outlay.
More details
below.
Coaching Bursaries
The League
believes that the future of badminton begins at grassroots level. Supporting
new coaches is one of the most effective ways we can sustain and grow the game
across Crewe & District and Cheshire.
We recognise
that gaining a coaching qualification requires both financial investment and
personal commitment. Our aim is to help make this step more accessible.
Where possible,
we encourage a shared funding approach between the individual, their Club, and
the League/County. However, the League may contribute up to the full cost of
the course where appropriate. We will also apply for and manage any available
funding from Cheshire County Badminton Association (CCBA).
Commitment
In return for
financial support, we ask that successful applicants contribute to the
development of badminton within Crewe & District and/or Cheshire after
qualifying.
This may
include:
-
Supporting coaching activity within your Club
-
Assisting with junior or beginner development
-
Helping at League or County events
Where volunteer
numbers are limited, supported coaches may also be asked to assist in the
running of League events for a short period.
Application Process
To keep the
process straightforward, applications should be made via Clubs:
-
The individual discusses their intention to take a
coaching course with their Club.
-
The Club submits a request to the League.
-
The League considers the request and confirms its
decision.
-
Once the course is completed, the Club provides:
-
Evidence of completion
-
Confirmation of its financial
contribution
-
The League releases its agreed contribution to the
Club.
-
The League may then retrospectively apply to CCBA
to recover part of its contribution where possible.
