As you know, each year we award the Stan Smith Trophy to the most improved player we have seen during the season. Covid has interfered with a lot of our business recently, this included. We did not, of course, have any awards in 2020/21. This award dates back to 2019/20. The trophy was won by Grace Litherland-Clews of Alsager BC. Grace has played junior badminton for a number of years and has an impressive history of trophy winning at junior tournaments, several of which were at U16 and U18 ages over consecutive seasons. During this time Grace also supported the Alsager junior team at Junior League.

Most recently she has turned out for the Alsager mens team to support them in their league matches, testimony to her all round abilities to compete at a senior level. Grace has been associated with county juniors during this time, indicative of how well her Badminton development has progressed. Everyone at Alsager is rightly proud of her achievements. The League are delighted to be able to recognise this worthy winner - well done Grace.
