A meeting of the executive committee took place last night (9th October) as part of our routine schedule. It is an opportunity to assess the smooth start up of the season. Topics were:

·         John Ford tournament gets underway next week so handicapping will commence. Again – if anyone wants to offer their views on handicapping we would love to hear from them.

·         Len Knight Trophy is in November – last week we asked any interested players (over 40’s both men and Women) to make it known. Please get in touch with Hon Sec if you would like to be considered

·         A new experimental match format is to be trialled. This format allows a team of 4 Men and 2 women to fulfil a fixture. As a result of the trial we will discuss it around the clubs and If we adopt it, clubs with reduced lady players may benefit

·         A league quiz is to take place on 24th November at the Duke of Gloucester in Crewe. Get your quiz heads on and join us

·         Be aware that Junior League starts on 21st October at Rudheath

·         And the big topic of the night was that we had a guest appearance from Leanne Brown who is the Badminton England Relationship Manager covering our area. We discussed numerous items that Badminton England can help us with. Their primary aim is to get more players playing at all ages. There are all sorts of techniques they can adopt. In the first place the executive team will assess the contents of our conversation, and shortly Hon Sec will write a news article specifically about the possibilities on offer which include: Coaching Courses, help for Clubs, Junior development and a variety of other things, so that interested parties can start to discuss their needs with us. The magic words – Funding may be available were said!! Look out for more shortly
